I expect this PR to not pass CI because of Fediversity/Fediversity#13. It does bring some overall improvements to the Mastodon test, so I think it should be merged anyway, without the CI job. Making the Mastodon test work in CI is tracked in Fediversity/Fediversity#34 anyway.
